At Yeittu, we believe your voice is your identity, and your identity is yours to control. This Privacy Policy explains how Yeittu Limited ("Yeittu", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our voice-centric social network. By using Yeittu, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

01.Introduction

Yeittu is a voice-first social media platform designed specifically for the African context. We empower users to express themselves through voice notes, live audio rooms, and sonic storytelling.

Because voice data is inherently personal, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of data protection. This policy outlines our practices regarding information collected through our mobile apps, website (www.yeittu.com), and associated audio services.

02.Information We Collect

2.1 INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE DIRECTLY

When you create an account, we collect your phone number (for verification via OTP), chosen username, and optional profile details such as your bio and profile picture. If you participate in creator programs, we may collect payout information including bank details or wallet addresses.

  • Account information: Name, email, phone number, username, password
  • Profile information: Bio, profile photo, location, education, work

2.2 VOICE AND AUDIO CONTENT

We collect and process the audio recordings you upload as "Voice Notes" and the live audio streams in "Sonic Rooms". This data is processed to enable playback, transcription services (where requested), and content moderation.

  • Content: Audio posts, comments, replies, bookmarks

2.3 AUTOMATED DEVICE INFORMATION

We automatically collect technical data from your device, such as your IP address, device type, operating system, and app usage statistics. This helps us optimize audio quality based on your network conditions and device capabilities.

  • Usage data: Log data, device information, IP address
  • Cookies: We use strictly necessary cookies required for the platform to function (such as login sessions and security). If we introduce non-essential cookies in the future, we will obtain your consent first. Full details are available in our Cookie Policy.

03.How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide and improve our services, personalize your experience, communicate with you, and ensure the security of our platform — for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the Yeittu platform
  • To personalize your audio feed and discovery
  • To facilitate creator earnings and payouts
  • To communicate with you regarding service updates and offers
  • To ensure community safety through moderation
  • To comply with legal obligations in jurisdictions we operate
  • To monitor and analyze trends and usage
  • To detect and prevent fraud and abuse

LAWFUL BASES FOR PROCESSING

We process your personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 on one or more of the following lawful bases:

  • Performance of a contract (to provide and operate the Yeittu platform)
  • Your consent (where required)
  • Our legitimate interests (platform security, fraud prevention, service improvement, and analytics)
  • Compliance with legal obligations

04.Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information in the following limited circumstances:

SERVICE PROVIDERS

External partners helping us operate.

"We share data with infrastructure partners like Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting and audio processing, and payment processors like Flutterwave or OPay for handling financial transactions."

"We may disclose information if required to do so by law in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency)."

We may also share information with other users according to your privacy settings.

05.Data Security and Storage

The security of your data is important to us. We implement industry-standard encryption for data at rest and in transit (TLS/SSL), secure servers, and regular security audits to safeguard your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your information within 14 days, except where retention is required by law.

ENCRYPTED AUDIO
